1. mix up
- 뜻: to stir or shake well; to confuse, to bewilder(수동형태로 더 자주 사용됨; to be mixed up, to get mixed up): 젓다, 잘 섞다; 혼란스럽게 만들다
- You should mix up the ingredients well before you put them in the pan. (후라이팬에 넣기 전에 그 재료들을 잘 섞어야 돼.)
- The teacher's poor explanation really mixed the students up. (선생님의 안좋은 설명이 학생들을 정말 혼란스럽게 만들었다.)
- The students think it's their fault that they are mixed up so often. (학생들은 너무 자주 망치는 게 그들의 탓이라고 생각한다.)
2. to see about
- 뜻: to give attention or time to; to attend to, to see to: 관심이나 시간을 주다, 참석하다, 보다
- Who is going to see about getting us a larger room for the meeting? (누가 회의용 큰 공간 얻는 거 알아볼거야?)
- I'll see to arranging music for the wedding if you attend to the entertainment. (만약 너가 그 공연에 참여할거면 내가 결혼식에 맞는 편곡음악을 찾아볼게.)
3. to make out
- 뜻: to do, to succeed, to progress: 성공하다, 성과를 내다
- Charlie didn't make out very well on his final examinations. He may have to repeat one or more classes. (찰리는 그의 마지막 시험에서 잘 성과를 내지 못했어. 그는 아마도 한개나 그 이상의 수업을 반복해야 할거야.)
- How did Rachelle make out on her acting audition in Hollywood yesterday? (어떻게 레이첼이 어제 할리우드에서 본 연기 오디션에 합격했을까?)
4. by heart
- 뜻: by memorizing: 암기해서
- He knows many passages from Shakespeare by heart. (그는 암기해서 셰익스피어의 많은 문단들을 알고있다.)
- Do you know all the idioms you have studied in this book by heart? (너는 이 책에서 공부해왔던 모든 숙어들을 암기해서 알고 있어?)
5. to keep out
- 뜻: not to enter, not allow to enter; 들어오지 않다, 들어오도록 허락하지 않다
- There was a large sign outside the door that said, "Danger! Keep out!" (문 밖에 "위험! 출입금지!" 라고 써진 큰 간판이 있었다.)
- I've told you to keep the dog out of the house. (내가 개 집 밖에 있으라고 말했잖아.)
